The session began with a heartfelt and friendly welcome extended to Prof. V. M. Umale, Dean of Academics, SSGMCE Shegaon. He commenced the session by setting an inviting tone for the interaction. His approach differed from the conventional speech on the dais; instead, he chose to engage in direct interaction with the students.

One of the key messages he conveyed was the importance of students proving their determination when it comes to publishing papers in academic journals. He encouraged them to seek clarity and address any queries that might arise during this process.

Moving on, he surveyed the rules and regulations that the university upholds for examinations. He emphasised that students should draw inspiration from these exams, seeing them not as burdens but as opportunities to showcase their understanding of the subject matter. Highlighting his pivotal role, he clarified that he is the direct interface between students and the university in matters of examinations. He simplified the passing criteria, urging students to focus not only on passing but also on comprehending concepts to write effectively.

The dean stressed the importance of maintaining consistent enthusiasm, participating actively in all class activities, and staying informed about the policies of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He introduced the concepts of the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), shedding light on the grading system employed by the institution.

Addressing concerns about shortcomings in exams, Prof. Umale provided strategies to overcome these challenges, stressing the importance of following benchmarks set by the institution. He introduced students to the Student Information System (SIS) Portal and the various university schemes available to support their academic journey.

In conclusion, Prof. Umale urged students to strive for excellence, clear subjects without accumulating backlogs, and comprehend the concepts of credits, SGPA (semester grade point average), and CGPA (cumulative grade point average). His interactive session left the students inspired and enlightened, ready to approach their academic journey with renewed vigour and a holistic perspective.
