Student Orientation and Induction Program (Day 12 – Session 1)

Topic – Introduction to Google Developer Students Club and AWS Cloud
Speaker: Mr. Saurabh Wankhede and Mr. Amit Molke
The session began with a heartfelt greeting extended to the guest speakers, Mr. Saurabh Wankhede and Mr. Amit Molke, final year students, SSGMCE who were honoured with a memento as a token of respect, by Mr. Atharva Kute, student coordinator.
Mr. Saurabh Wankhede initiated the session with an introduction to the Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC). He outlined the agenda for the upcoming workshops and shared details about the sessions planned for the year. Emphasizing the benefits of collaboration with GDSC, he introduced the core team members and invited them to introduce themselves. The underlying motto of GDSC was highlighted as “Grow together and learn together,” focusing on bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
During the interactive session, participants posed several important questions. Firstly, they inquired about the prerequisites for participating in GDSC activities. Secondly, participants required information regarding the availability of advanced Java courses provided by Google.
The focus then shifted to the next segment, which was about Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, presented by Mr. Amit Molke. He initiated his talk by determining the students’ familiarity with cloud computing and clarified that no specific programming language was required to understand cloud concepts.
He began by illustrating the concept of cloud computing using the popular game PUBG as an example. He elaborated on the relevance of cloud computing in the modern era and in relation to initiatives like the Startup India scheme. The advantages of cloud computing were explained, followed by a breakdown of cloud architecture using practical examples.
He explored AWS Cloud in particular, providing insights into a variety of services it offers. He shared sector-wise applications of cloud computing and presented real-world scenarios to illustrate its potential. The availability of AWS Academy courses within the college was also highlighted.
During the Q&A session, after his presentation, students asked about data security in the cloud, compared Google and AWS courses, and discussed the importance of certifications for their resumes.
In summary, the session provided an insightful introduction to GDSC and AWS Cloud, highlighting their significance in bridging the gap between theory and practice. Students gained valuable insights into cloud computing and its real-world applications. The speakers effectively addressed participants’ questions, fostering a better understanding of the topics discussed.
