SSGMCE, Shegaon Celebrates Krishna Janmashtami with Enthusiastic Festivities and Devotion
The Krishna Janmashtami celebration at Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon commenced on August 27, 2024, with great fervor and devotion. The first event began at 12:00 AM in the Prayer Hall of Sant Muktabai Hostel, marking the birth of Lord Krishna. The gathering of girls from B.E. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years and M.B.A 2nd year started at 11:30 PM, eagerly awaiting the festivities. Mrs. Sharada Raut, the head of the girls’ hostel, was also present to join in the celebration and bless the students.
With great enthusiasm and spiritual fervor, the celebration started with the melodious singing of bhajans by the girls, filling the hall with divine energy. This was followed by the ceremonial swinging of Shri Krishna in a palna, giving each girl a chance to participate in the sacred ritual and seek the blessings of the divine. Adding to the festive spirit, Miss Apurva Patil and Miss Srushti Rindhe from B.E. final year, were dressed as Radha-Krishna, embodying the divine love and grace. After the aarti and puja, everyone received prasad, a sacred offering, and felt blessed. The girls then enjoyed playing garba, a traditional dance, with great enthusiasm, concluding the first day’s celebration on a joyful note.
The celebration continued on August 29, 2024, at 3:45 PM with the dahi handi event in front of the library. The program was graced by Dr. S. B. Somani, the college principal, faculty members, and students. The program started with the aarti and puja of Shri Gajanan Maharaj and Lord Krishna by Principal sir and Mr. Chinmay Harne, a final year student, who dressed up as Krishna. Then, Miss Roshani Borle and Miss Rajsi Shah performed a dance portraying Lord Krishna and Radha Rani, showcasing the divine love between them. The students then enjoyed dancing, and the boys prepared a human pyramid to burst the dahi handi hung high. After the dance, everyone was blessed with prasad.
The successful organization of the event is credited to the Cultural Council of the college, led by Mr. Ajinkya Nagare and Miss Samruddhi Tambhatkar, who worked tirelessly to make the celebration a memorable one.
