Day 6 Student Orientation and Induction Program – First Session (20th September 2024)

Topic: Training and Placement Cell Initiatives at a Glance

Resource Person: Prof. Adesh Solanke, T&P Officer, SSGMCE, Shegaon

The session began with Prof. Adesh Solanke being welcomed by Ajinkya Nagre, with anchoring by Niraj Ubale. Prof. Solanki opened with a discussion on the challenges in the software industry, explaining that global factors such as geopolitical conflicts are affecting recruitment. He highlighted how companies are divided into Accounts and Management sectors, with SAP playing a significant role in management operations. The 2024 pass-out batch was informed that placement emails from IBM had already been sent. He also emphasized the future importance of the semiconductor and core sectors, particularly for Electronics students, and reassured that placement assistance extends for up to a year post-graduation. Technological advancements, especially in AI, were another key focus, with Prof. Solanki introducing a 90-hour International AI course and Cloud Computing training.

He introduced the T&P team and shared how the Alumni Cell has placed 100 candidates. He also discussed upcoming recruitment from companies like TCS, ABB, and Anant Defense, mentioning specific requirements such as CGPA thresholds. To prepare for placements, he emphasized the importance of soft skills, mock interviews, and technical proficiency in areas like Java, C++, and CAD CAM. Last year’s successful placement of 328 students across all branches was highlighted, along with the role of platforms like Superset and Microsoft Teams in managing placements. He encouraged students to maintain professional profiles on LinkedIn and use corporate attire for placement activities. The session closed with an overview of placement statistics and the importance of problem-solving mindsets in navigating career challenges.
